Hybrid Class | Beyond Digital Basics

You've been asking for it so Studio Calico has listened!!! I am super excited to be offering this "beyond basics" class from Studio Calico. In this class we will be covering all the questions you have been asking about digital/hybrid scrapbooking. There are a lot of myths out there and we are going to clear them up and make this super easy for you. Hybrid scrapbooking is HAPPENING. You are ALREADY doing it, when you use your digital die-cut machine or add a title to your photo before you print it, you are a HYBRID scrapbooker!! So now let's take your skills to the next level and figure out new ways to use all those digital goodies you have.

It was a blast putting together a digital kit for this class ...

This is just a peek at some of the goodies you get with the class
for a full view check it out here

WHAT YOU'LL GET :
·         10 how to videos from myself covering techniques for templates, stamp brushes, digital paper, printables and digital die cut files
·         10 tutorials from the contributors covering techniques for templates, stamp brushes, digital paper, printables and digital die cut files
·         20 new digital / hybrid projects to inspire you
·         a class message board to interact with myself and your fellow students
·         new challenges each week

Hybrid scrapbooking is something I have a passion for and as I looked back at some of my first uploads to the Studio Calico gallery that was very clear!

Even looking at my most recent gallery at Studio Calico, one of my favorite layouts is simply using the digital templates in my cameo (one of my favorite techniques!) with the Camelot kits!

WHAT YOU'LL NEED :
·         Photoshop or PSE
·         Basic Digi Scrapping Skills (check out our FREE Digital Basics class if you need to brush up!)

It is my hope that at the end of this class you will look at your digital "stash" with as many possibilities as you do your paper stash! It really is such an economical way to go since you can use the supplies over and over again, re-color re-size.. seriously so many possibilities!

Studio Calico Camelot Scrapbook Kits

I have said it once and I will say it again,,... I can't believe how QUICKLY this month snuck up on me! Yesterday was another exciting reveal over at Studio Calico, but I was at a WONDERFUL super sweet intimate wedding for one of my dear friends, I just could not be happier for them!!

So this month's kit  is DEVINE and reminds me a lot of one of my favorite kits,.. Neverland!

This beautiful kit paired with this amazing cut file from Barbara = TOTAL inspiration!

I had so much fun creating this page! What I did was simply use the cut file on 5-6 pages of pattern paper as well as white cardstock. One at a time layer the pattern paper behind the white paper flipping up the windows until you create the desired effect. Once you are done fan the layers out to really make them POP!

Another page I had a lot of fun with is this one all about my husband. I used the digital templates I created for the shop this month and sent them over to my cameo to cut out all the shapes! With templates like this you can easily use them as a base to get you started and really make it your own form there!! The lovely worn typewriter font is from the LOVELY Heather Joyce  over at The Lilypad.

Templates are available here :)

What are you most excited about in your Studio Calico box this month?

Make a Mini with Maggie Holmes

Do you have those people in your life that inspire you to see the world in a different way? Maggie is one of those people for me. I love her vintage inspired style and the dreamy look her projects have!

I love what Maggie did with the Bluegrass Farms Kits, her eye for color always draws me in.

Remember what I said about dreamy? She rocked it with Office Hours as well!

Now is YOUR chance to "sit" in class with this innovative artist and soak all this up in her new MINI BOOK workshop! Studio Calico has done an amazing job bringing us a series of wonderful and inspiring mini book mini workshops and I just adore them!

I was super excited when Maggie asked me to design the printables for this class, she wanted something with her signature vintage touch and let me tell you.... I had so much fun creating them!

The amazing Marcy Penny made these adorable cuts for the class as well!

I also wanted to give you a little heads up to be sure to pick up the Excalibur add-on with the May reveal! It is one of my faves this month, the alpha and the ribbon are seriously CRAZY fun!

This class is also a part of the Mini Workshop bundle, if you haven't already picked that up you have until May 31st to get in on this deal! 4 workshops for one low deal from 4 inspiring teachers!

Let's face the facts. There is just something special about mini books, they are a little treasure that only we know the true value of. They are are pleasure to make and just make you feel good when you complete one and can hold it in your hand as your flip thorugh the memories.

Maggie's mini albums have a little touch of magic in them and now is your chance to join her in making a little of your own magic! I can't wait to see what you do with it!

Sneaks | Camelot

I can't believe it's time for sneaks again. The month's seem to be flying by! Before we even get started with my personal sneaks I just wanted to share the mood board from Studio Calico for this kit, I love the mood boards because I think they give such a clear vision for the entire feel of the kits.

Isn't it dreamy?

This (above)  sneak is just for a layout, before I added anything from the kits

I wanted to point out some of my favorite things in these dreamy kits: I love the different texture of ribbon and material we got to play with this month! Heidi Swapp Gold Glitter words? YES PLEASE!!! See those white alpha stickers in my final sneak? I could use those for ages. I love how you can slightly layer them and the font/size is PERFECTION!

What are you loving about the kits this month?  If you aren't already signed up for the kits, make sure to do so hereMy favorite benefit is pre-sale shopping! You've got to scoop up all your must-haves before they are gone :)  Back back soon with Project Life sneaks :)

Journaling Bible Start To Finish

Happy Monday!! Before I get started I wanted to THANK YOU AGAIN for all your KIND words surrounding my Journaling Bible series. You have brought tears to my eyes with the stories you are telling me, I just can't express enough... keep reaching out ,... keep telling your stories ... you are an amazing community and I adore you!

Yesterday was Palm Sunday, and at our church that meant a family service complete with one of the cutest (ok ....her Mom thinks SO!) little 7 year old leading us in worship. I love family services and experiencing the service with my children. Since I had a happy little 7 year old snuggling me during the sermon I decided to soak that in and not take notes today. So I came home with an empty bible and empty sermon notes.

When this happens I usually take the overall theme, or highlight some of the word that really stood out to me. But today there was one thing that Pastor Chris said that really spoke to me. It was about perspective and how we need to look at other view points. This stood out to me because Katherine and I were just talking about this during the week. So how "odd" for those exact same words to come up during the sermon. I think looking at different situations from other's perspectives is amazingly important in relationships. It brings you to pause and think about your relationships and where you can improve.

I decided that since I had not taken notes, I would take the main point I took away from today as a title, and use allpha stickers to make a statement on the page. I made sure to keep the sermon notes even thought I hadn't use them because the had the bible verse Chris spoke about today, and I also use it to doodle out any words I may be using in my title work.

I wanted to use this large sticker at the bottom of my title but I didn't want the green leaf to cover the text in the bible. It is important to me that I can still read all the words. So I place a piece of cardstock just under the leaf section and then fussy cut around the sticker. This way the flower part I could use as a regular sticker but the leaf would be able to flip up and down if you needed to read the text under it.

And that was it! I added a little splash of Mister Huey and called it done! Another week, another sermon!

Remember if you want to share your images from your bible on my blog please let me know! :)

Journaling Bible | Digging Deeper

Friends, words can't express the love I felt from my post last week on my journaling bible. I never could have imagined sharing something so personal and seemingly simple with make such a spark not only in our community, but beyond. As I heard YOUR stories about your bibles, and your relationship with God I felt so connected to each and every one of you so THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart for sharing that side of yourself. I can't tell you how much I appreciated it. I tried to reach out to each and every ONE of you that spoke up and shared. Thank you.

Before I start on my thoughts this week I also wanted to tell you that I would LOVE to feature your bible on my blog. If you think that would be fun too please email me at shannanoelATgmailDOTcom and we will get that figured out. I think it would be fun for people to see different styles etc. :) Also, if you post it on instagram, feel free to tag me as well and I will make sure to hop over there!

Okay! Let's dig in! I know last week we talked a lot about stamping in your bible, doodles etc. But I didn't want you to feel limited to stamps and pens! There is so much more! I really haven't found anything (outside of dimensionals) that I don't love adding to my journal. In the photo above you can see I used WATERCOLORS (who doesn't love) and gelotos

Seriously, look at those beautiful rich colors. I just added a little watercolors to highlight my text that I was reading over. I love to mix the gelatos and watercolor together to create a SUPER dreamy effect. Even though a highlighter will get the job done, isn't this a whole lot more fun? You might notice my page is a little wrinkled this photo was take pretty much right after it dried, so once you close the book it will help take care of the wrinkle-age. I aslo make sure to use the Staz-On for these pages to make sure to avoid smudging.

One of my other favorite mediums to use is flat alpha stickers. For this page I didn't have a lot of notes for the sermon, so I made the made theme of the sermon my title and made it POP!

For those of you who have gotten started (or have been doing) your journaling bible, what are your favorite tools? I think it would be fun to do a "starter guide" for those wanting to jump in!!

Thank you again, you are such an inspiration to me!

5 min card | quite the pear

While I can appreciate a heavily decorate card, there is always a place in my heart for a super simple, modern in design card. I love that the sentiment takes center stage. Today I wanted to share with you a simple idea that comes together with some whimsical fabric and Studio Calico metal dies. This stamp and die set was from a couple month's ago and is currently sold out. But this month there is a very similar set in the Bluegrass Farm Card kit along with a matching die (which p.s. I just added to my cart because with all the amazingness at reveal I forgot it. YIKES!).

First get all your supplies ready. For this card I decided to use my die with some fun fabric! I have a soft spot in my heart for this bird fabric, in my opinion it's perfect for ANY project apparently because you will see it on MANY many MANY of mine!

I have a big shot that I use with my metal dies and I am still learning how to use this bad boy, but when I cut fabric, I use a couple pieces of cardstock under my fabric to help shim it a tiny bit and give it a nice solid cut. If that doesn't work for you, just keep trying different things until you find what works!

I love the immediate gratification you get from using these dies! So much fun, and very easy. It is also super simple to go ahead and cut out a dozen pears while you are at it and have some on hand!

Now this is one of the things I really love about these dies, you can EASILY place them where you would like and create a negative image as well.  So here I made a card base using solar white cardstock.  I laid it on my big shot and placed the die where I want the fabric pear to peek through. I know I am going to stamp a sentiment below this, so I am making sure to leave enough room at the bottom there to do that.

This is the first time I have made a card like this so at this point, when I saw that my vision as going to work .. I got really excited. Do you do that to? I love how SIMPLE this card is, but special at the same time. The little peek-a-boo window helps to take it to the next level!

Use a little adhesive of your choice on the back. Make sure to add a little to the "leaf" part as that is the most likely to get caught on the cardstock during opening and closing.

This stamp set from the Antiquary card kit had the cutest little sentiments on it, I loved this one that says "quite the pear". I used my stazOn jet black ink pad and arcylic block and centered it below the pear.

At the last minute I decided to add a little pink heart to really bring attention to the "pear" of love birds there. This would be perfect for an anniversary card, a card for your significant other, or even a casual wedding card!

I hope you enjoyed this quick tutorial!
